New DMR Function Image™ Release Supporting LD and I/Q Receiver operation

05 May 2019

CML Microcircuits has released a new DMR Function Image™ supporting Limiter Discriminator (LD) receiver architecture.  This takes the flexibility of the multi-standard  mobile radio processors CMX7431/CMX7421 to the next level, not only supporting DMR, dPMR™, analogue and anfd other digital PMER/LMR systems, it now it now has both I/Q and LD receiver capability.

About the DMR Function Image™

The 7241/7341FI-2.2.x Function Image™ implements much of the DMR Air Interface protocol including the physical layer 1 and data link layer 2 and is compliant with the ETSI TS 102 361 DMR standard. A high level of advanced functionality is included that minimises both host interactions and host real-time control constraints. The CMX7241/CMX7341 includes an embedded audio codec (ADC/DAC) with a flexible interface to support both software and hardware implementations of the AMBE+2 Vocoder

About the CMX7241/CMX7341

The CMX7241/7341 PMR Common Platform Processors can deliver FDMA digital PMR/LMR, 2-slot TDMA digital PMR/LMR and legacy analogue. Based on CML’s FirmASIC® component technology, a Function Image™ is uploaded into the device to determine the overall functions and operating characteristics.

DMR Chipset Solution Provides a Fast Development Path to Entering the DMR Market

The DMR chipset comprises a low power RF Direct Conversion Receiver (DCRx) IC (CMX994A/E) and a PMR/LMR Common Platform Processor (CMX7341) with the DMR Air Interface and coding embedded within a Function Image™. The CMX994A/E and CMX7341 chipset along with DMR (7241/7341FI-2.2.x) Function Image™ enables a highly integrated, cost effective radio to be developed quickly with a low risk development route, for radio manufacturers planning to enter the DMR market space.

DMR Limiter Discriminator Receiver Direction

Manufacturers preferring to evolve their current radio design into a DMR radio and not wishing to do a ground-up redesign, can take advantage of the new DMR Function Image™ release that now includes LD receiver capability.

The DMR Chipset ICs are available in very small VQFN packages occupying a minimal PCB footprint and in conjunction with a suitable host microcontroller a small, highly integrated DMR radio can be realised.
