Looking back on Embedded World 2019

CML Microcircuits is happy to announce another successful year at the Embedded World exhibition in Nuremburg, Germany. The show celebrated its 17th year, welcoming 31,000 trade visitors and 1,117 companies from countries all over the world.

Live demonstrations of the recently-launched CMX655D Ultra-low Power Voice Codec and pre-launch SCT2400 2.4GHz Digital Voice and Data Transceiver were the highlights of CML’s participation at the show in association with our Distributor SE Spezial-Electronic GmbH.

In contrast to the static and graphic presentations at previous shows, our intention was to create interest with the impact of sound and vision. The CMX655D demo was based on the EV6550D Evaluation Kit combined with a Raspberry Pi computer, graphical display and keyboard. With this combination it was possible to demonstrate several modes of operation such as the playback of a pre-recorded message, or the recording and playback of conversations with visitors to the stand. Proprietary applications running on the Raspberry Pi also demonstrated text-to-speech and speech-to-text functions.

With the SCT2400 demo, also based around the SCT2400 Demonstration Board, it was great to be able to talk to visitors looking at the demo from a hand-held radio on the other side of the exhibition stand.

Overall, the demonstrations attracted an excited audience of visitors and other CML Distributors, keen to have a play. Embedded World is regarded by many in the electronics sector as the most important show in Europe and has built a great reputation as being a place where real business can be done. In many cases, it is often easier to arrange meetings with existing customers at the show rather than making separate visits at other times.

Martin Grossman, CML, stated “We already have a number of Distributors asking to use these demos at other events. Building on the experience gained at Embedded World, CML is looking forward to creating more interesting demos for future exhibitions”.
