Description
The CMX7031/CMX7041 (FI-1.2 and 1.3) are full-function, half-duplex, audio, signalling and data processor ICs. This makes them suitable devices for both the leisure radio markets (FRS, MURS, PMR446 and GMRS) and for professional radio products (PMR/LMR, Marine and Trunking) with or without signalling and data facilities. Each device utilises CML’s proprietary FirmASIC® component technology employing a Function Image™ to configure the device's feature and function set. As well as full feature, sequence-programmable audio processing and in-band and sub-audio signalling, other major features include a complete MSK/FFSK modem for packetised or free-format data, a DSC modem. The CMX7031 features two on-chip RF synthesisers, with easy Rx/Tx frequency changeover, and programmable system clocks to minimise the chip count in the final application. System operation is supported by two auxilliary ADC channels with four selectable inputs and up to four auxiliary DAC interfaces (with an optional RAMDAC on the first DAC output, to facilitate transmitter power ramping) The CMX7041 is identical in functionality to the CMX7031 with the exception that it has no on-chip RF synthesisers, a feature which enables it to be supplied in a smaller package and with two extra GPIO pins. The device has flexible powersaving modes and is available in both LQFP and VQFN packages. The Datasheet (available via the link on this page) is the first part of two-part documentation comprising Datasheet and User Manual: the User Manual can be obtained (via the MyCML link) by registering your interest in these products with your local CML representative. Documentation refers to both parts generically as the CMX7031, unless otherwise stated. Product Configuration The overall CMX7031 and CXM7041 product function and feature-sets are determined by a Function Image™ which is a data file that configures the on-chip internal systems. The Function Image™ can be stored in the Host microcontroller’s FLASH memory and uploaded to the CMX7031 or the CMX7041 after power-up, or transferred to an EEPROM attached to the IC for automatic uploading of the data file after power-up. Further information, including the user manual, application notes, FAQs and evaluation resources, can by obtained from the 'MyCML' technical portal. |

Evaluation and Demonstration
Two evaluation resources are currently available to the CMX7031 and the CMX7041. Information on both can by obtained from the 'MyCML' area of this website. The PE0201 Platform Evaluation Kit is available for the evaluation and application development of the CMX703x range of FirmASIC® products. The PE0401 Platform Evaluation Kit is available for the evaluation and application development of the CMX704x range of FirmASIC® products. The PE0002 Interface Card is a global interface system for use with evaluation kits for CML's new generation ICs. |
