Fixed Wireless Phones use wireless communication links as the "last mile / first mile" connection for delivery of plain old telephone service (POTS) and broadband Internet to telecommunications customers.
They differ from conventional mobile terminal units operating within cellular networks in that they are limited to semi-permanent locations so have no dependency on roaming or find-me services. This type of system effectively replaces or eliminates the need for a fixed telecommunication cable.
