Asynchronous Transmission
A mode of data transmission in which each bit is not in sync -in respect of frequency or timing.
Signals are sent as groups of a specified length with start and stop bit indicators at the beginning and end of each group.
Also refered to as 'Start Mode' or 'Character Mode'.
